I get my eggs from a friend who raises chickens. I noticed the lid wasn’t sitting quite right.
HOLY MOTHER OF GOD!
King Egg might be why. Peasant egg for scale.
Guess I’ll eat that one.
Getting the ingredients ready. Egg, slice of scrapple, and deluxe american cheese.
With the pan good and hot, I throw the egg and scrapple on.
That’s a lot of egg.
FLIP-A-DOO
Chez applied.
And all done.
Mmmmmm
If you’re wondering why there is a little bit of egg on the plate.
That’s for Gus.

Bro, you’re ruining fresh homegrown eggs with that cheese? Go get yourself something nice for those beauties.

Worked part time in an chicken barn that sorted and packaged eggs.
So many odd shaped, over sized and double yolk eggs come through. They’re sold to large industrial food makers while the normal eggs are graded and sold at grocery store.
We’d always get free trays for our fridge would be full of weird eggs.

Hmm, my parent’s neighbors have chickens and sometimes bring over eggs, but I haven’t seen one like that.
Looks tasty though!

Young hens that have just started laying make the weirdest ones. We called them “practice eggs”. You get eggs that are lumpy, misshapen, lopsided, undersized, have double thick shells, and all sorts of oddness.

my folks have chickens - new batch this spring and they are just starting to lay. The biggest difference is that the yolks are so orange and more flavorful.
But that is one hell of a chicken egg.

Agreed. Store bought egg yolks look grey in comparison.

Non-wrapped American cheese gets no love. Not my favorite cheese, but it has more than earned its place in my fridge.

It was!

That’s it? That hen’s practically a virgin compared to what the Kiwi bird has to pass.

Jeez!

Can it be found west of the Mississippi?

Eggxactly.
And yep. Taylor ham and scrapple keep me from going to far.

Young and old hens sucked the most.
Old eggs were so brittle and young meant a ton more sorting.

Probably not unless you make it yourself or have it shipped next day. :(

Colors:
-US graded OK (2)
- US Graded Organic (2)
- My free range chickens (3) [I figure it was bug guts. And grass. And dirt.]
My Pilgrim and Roman Tufted geese laid 3 x-large chicken sized eggs with yolks that *shone* so orange, it was ridiculous. We only needed one or two chicken eggs to cut the flavor so an omelet was perfect. They were hard to break the shells - could have been classified as bludgeons otherwise.

Scrapple......I’m just not sure about that.

I used to be the same way. Then I had scrapple.

I’ve only seen it on the Bizzare Foods, so maybe thats the reason. Just sounds so odd, throw everything left over in a pan and let it sit around overnight then fry up. Yum? I’ll try it once at least.

Not going to lie, that was the most irresistible click-baity post title I’ve seen in a long time.
I knew it was going to be a giant egg, but I was still intrigued.

You’re very brave. You could’ve cracked that egg and a velociraptor popped out at you.
Had to look up scrapple. Midwest here...never heard of it.

I’ll take intrigue over disappointment.
